Plumber Cranbourne West: Merribah way Blocked Drain

Orbit Plumbing received a call from a customer in Cranbourne west. Our Mornington Peninsula Plumbers were needed to clear a blocked drain as the customer informed our Plumber Somerville location over the phone that her toilets were gurgling and the basins were filling up with water and not going down or going down very slowly.

When having a shower the shower floor would fill up with water very quickly and she had a new born baby, so this was making life that little bit more difficult at an already difficult time of life.

Our Frankston Plumbers headed over to the job and tested the water drainage themselves by running all of the taps and seeing what was happening. While this was in progress and our Frankston south Plumber was running back and forth frantically to make sure nothing would over flow in the home and cause a flooded mess, our Mornington Plumber was outside looking for the sewer inspection shaft.

As soon as the inspection shaft was found we turned the taps off as we could clearly see that it was full and not going anywhere. Our Langwarrin Plumber tells us that when you see a blockage in the inspection shaft it means that the blockage is either in between the properties Inspection shaft and the main sewer drain and the procedure is to use the drain cleaner until you reach the main south east water sewer drain which the plans for is available to plumbers on the south east water mobile phone app. If the blockage does not clear after rodding to the mains sewer which is south east waters assets then the Seaford Plumber or any other plumber must refer the job onto south east water who will come out to clear the blockage.

In this case our plumbers found the blockage cleared quite quickly as our drain cleaner struck something hard and the root cutting head became stuck. Our Karingal Plumber reefed the drain cleaner coil out of the drain and out came a dog’s bone. A big one too.

All of the sewer suddenly ran away and the blockage was clear. We ran all of the taps again just to test the drain was definitely clear and running free and that all of the plumbing products in the house were working correctly.

On our way out we thought that we could smell some gas while walking through the house, so just as a precaution we asked the customer if she minded if we tested her gas line for safety as we were concerned especially with a new born baby in the house.

We tested the gas line successfully for 5 minutes at 7kpa according to the Victorian Building Authority Regulations and our minds and the customers mind was put to rest and there was no need for worry. It was just better to be safe than sorry.
