Plumber Hastings: Boes Road Septic System Effluent Absorption Trench Blockages

The Mornington Peninsula has over 30,000 Septic systems. These systems require maintenance and replacement and that is where Orbit Plumbing comes into play. When you have an issue with any of your plumbing products or septic systems call Orbit Plumbing for a reliable outcome.

At this job in Hastings our Somers Plumber and Red Hill Plumber together tackled these poo problems. The customer informed our plumbers that the system was overflowing at certain areas of the absorption trench area. After a quick discussion with the customer about the different ways we could approach the situation it was decided we would use the drain camera and locator to find the point of the issue.

As the entire system was not failing, this made it a lot easier to locate which trenches needed attention. After using the pipe cameras top locate the blockages, our plumbers dug up the bad areas being very careful not to mix the rock with the dirt as this would effect the success of the system.

An absorption trench system requires a 90mm slotted PVC pipe to be surrounded by 20mm scoria to act as a filter and absorption sponge to soak up all of the effluent into the land. It is best practice to cover the rock with a geo-textile cloth  before back filling any excess dirt as this cloth acts as a barrier to prevent the dirt getting into the rocked area of the trench.
