Plumber Mornington: Haig Street Stormwater Blockage

Around the Mornington Peninsula Plumbers area there so many blocked pipes currently that we could probably keep clearing them forever. The Plumber Mornington way that was on duty was called about a blocked storm water situation happening on Haig street in Mornington.

Our Frankston Plumber and Somerville Plumber were sent out together to get to the bottom of the problem. Upon arrival the customer explained to our Frankston South Plumber that when it rained, all of the down pipes would overflow out of the bottom of the down pipe where the down pipe meets up with the storm water pipe.

The first step was to get the pipe camera and locator out and expect the piping to find the location of the blockage. When inspecting around the back yard we found an old storm water pit that was first covered over with dirt and leaves. We uncovered the pit and opened the lid to find the entry point for the customers storm water pipe into the main line. This was great as it gave us some great access into the storm water piping.

It did not take much to find the blockage as the pipe was blocked within the first meter of inspecting it. We started digging immediately and opened up the pipe to find the blockage was completely full of roots. The blockage went on for a few meters so we dug up the piping and replaced this blocked section with new 100mm DWV PVC pipe. We then back filled around the pipe with 7mm screenings as per our regulations given to us by the Victorian Building Authority and re-instated the ground and grass neatly over the pipe and around the storm water pit.
