Plumber Somerville: Eramosa Road East Sewer Blockage

We received a call from a Somerville plumbing customer who was experiencing pooling on their front lawn. When our Mornington Peninsula plumbers arrived we could clearly see that the lawn was saturated. Our first thought for this was that their was a burst pipe under the ground. We decided to put a water pressure test on the property or whats called a hydro static test so that we could test the pressure in the water line. This required attaching the test to the line while under full pressure and isolating the water line from the water mains. After conducting this test for a period of time, our Frankston plumber saw no drop in pressure which indicated to us that there was no fault or burst pipe in the water line.

Next our Mornington plumber decided to check the Sewer. Luckily there was a sewer inspection opening on the side of the property next to the overflow relief gully. As soon as we opened the cap, sewer effluent poured out and we knew that there must have been a blockage within the sewer piping.

This also indicated that the sewer piping would most likely be damaged because if the water was finding its way out of the pipe onto to the lawn instead of remaining in the plumbing products, then the pipe must be damaged in some way under the ground.

The customer decided to just clear the blockage for the time being. We used our drain cleaner and ended up pulling out some foreign matter that was blocking the sewer line. Luckily all is clear now and sewer is flowing again.
